Holiday Programmes

SAFE

All School’s Out programmes are accredited by the Ministry of Social Development ensuring regulatory compliance and Staff:Child ratios are maintained.

FUN

We aim to provide programmes that are fun and exciting for the children we look after. Activities are designed to encourage participation and engagement.

QUALITY

Don’t comprise on quality when it comes to the care of your precious children. School’s Out is an award winning provider of OSCAR care.

Our Holiday Programmes are designed to be Safe, Fun and Quality. Our goal is that every child is engaged, actively participating and ultimately having huge amounts of fun for every day that they are in our programmes. The Holiday Programmes are designed by centre staff, who know the children in their care and their interests.  Staff use feedback and ideas from the children and parents when planning, to make sure they include all the popular favourites as well as new activities where children can learn and develop different skills.

Once the staff have finalised the Holiday Programme for their centre, it is uploaded on to the centres webpage so you can access it easily or print a copy for your convenience to put on the fridge, simply follow the link to download. If the centre offers a “Seniors” programme, it can be found by clicking on the relevant link on the centre webpage.

We aso keep in mind that the children have had a busy school term, and are with us during the hottest time of the year (for those that attend the Summer Holiday Programme) so we incorporate some ‘chill-out’ time ensuring they are not exhausted by the end of the day and hopefully can return to the new school term refreshed, energised and ready to learn.

Holiday Booking Form

When your child is enrolled in the centre you just need to fill in the appropriate Booking Form for each new holiday programme.  This enables you to book in for the entrie Holiday Programme or just the individual days that suit your circumstances.  We require you to update all emergency contact details every Holiday Programme as this ensures we have your most current details.  It is also a Ministry of Social Development regulatory requirement that the emergency contacts are completed each time.

At School’s Out, we can have your children in our care for up to 10 hours a day, each day of the programme. It is important we have all the information relevant to your child and it is kept up to date as your child grows.  Please get your bookings and payment in early as many of our programmes fill fast and we are limited in the number of children we are allowed to accommodate under our Ministry of Social Development approval.  Bookings are taken on a first in, first served basis and we cannot accept additional bookings once our MSD Approval limit has been met however we will do our best to accommodate your children via a waiting list scenario.

Staff Ratios

Staff:Chid ratios remain at 1:10 when the children are in the centre with a minimum of 2 staff present at all times. Our supervision is increased to 1:8 when we go offsite for trip days and excursions and further increases to 1:6 if the children are doing a water based activity – including the use of an onsite pool.

Programmes for Older Children

Some of our centres have a separate “Senior” programme for the 9/10-13 year old’s in which the older children can partake in more challenging, age-appropriate activities.

Days of Operation

Our Holiday Programmes operate every day (Monday-Friday) of the term-time school holidays. Most of our centres normally reamain open until the last week before Xmas to accommodate the various closing times of different schools and operate an in-centre Holiday Programme for those children. We shut down over the Xmas/New Year period and reopen on the most appropriate day outside of the statutory public holidays depending on parent demand.  Our centres are not open on public holidays such and applicable regional Anniversary days.
