New Zealand Spelling Bee

School's Out is committed to improving kiwi kids' literacy, and that's why we're the proud new sponsor of the New Zealand Spelling Bee.

The New Zealand Spelling Bee was started in 2004 and since then has worked with hundreds of schools. Over the years, thousands of children have been learning word lists and improving their spelling and vocabularies, and this helps them for the rest of their lives.

The National Spelling Bee Final is always an exciting event. Open to Year Nine and Ten spellers only, every year excited finalists head down to Wellington to see who will win the title of National Spelling Bee Champion and a prize of $5,000!

With the support of School's Out, a new classroom resource has been developed so that Year One to Eight students can start spelling with the Bee earlier, either just for fun or to start learning early for the National Spelling Bee!

School's Out is also proud to support two Teacher's Awards for the wonderful work teachers do in supporting their children in the New Zealand Spelling Bee.

Congratulations to the 2014 NZ Spelling Bee finalists and winner.  See these television and online news links for coverage:
